This is the recording of the deed from Nathan Ellis and Mary Ann Ellis to Joseph Stewart of our family farm in Huntington Township for "forty acres more or less on the waters of the Ohio." November 13, 1802.
I am a direct descendant of this Joseph Stewart though my mother's side of the family and now one of the owners of said farm.

This Indenture made the thirteenth day of November in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two between Nathan
Ellis and Mary Ann his wife of the County of Adams and Territory
Northwest of the River Ohio of the one part and Joseph Stewart of
the same County and Territory aforesaid of the other part.
Witness that the said Nathan Ellis and Mary Ann his wife for the
consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to them in hand
paid by the said Joseph Stewart the receipt whereof they do
hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these
presents doth grant bargain & sell to the said Joseph Stewart
his heirs and assigns forty acres of land more or less, lying and
being in the County and Territory foresaid on the waters of the
Ohio. Beginning at a buckeye and two sugartrees on the south east
side of a large drain and upper back corner to Philip Glaughters
Survey No: three hundred and ninety six running North forty six
deg.(ree)s East one hundred poles to a ???? and
blackberrys thence North forty four degrees West sixty four poles
to two small blue ashes and a white thorntree thence South forty
six degrees West one hundred poles to a thorn hickory and white
oak in Glaughter’s upper back line thence with the same
South forty four degrees East sixty four poles to the beginning,
together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto
belonging, or in anywise appertaining. To have and to hold the
said forty acres of land more or less with its appurtenances to
the said Joseph Stewart and his heirs to the sole use benefit and
behalf of him the said Joseph Stewart his heirs and assigns
forever and the said Nathan Ellis and Mary Ann his wife for
themselves and their heirs, the said forty acres of land more or
less, with its appurtenances to the said Joseph Stewart his heirs
and assigns forever, against the claim or claims of all &
every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and
forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said
Nathan Ellis and Mary Ann his wife hath hereunto set their hand
and seals this day and year above written.

wife before me a justice of the peace for said county and
acknowledge the within deed of conveyance according to law. Given
